    Technology still blows
Here, at home, there is a single printer that is shared between the Mac, the PC running Suse Linux, and the Laptop running Windows XP. So like the other day the printer runs out of ink. Instead of forking over $40 dollars to get a new ink jet cartridge, my room mate gets this brilliant idea to use some kind of re-fillable thingy dingy. I'm not too sure what it is expect I know it must be cheap since she has issue forking over $5 dollars for paper towels. So anyhow there is ink back in the printer and my room mate decides to print stuff from the Mac. However when the printer ran, I got this stupid error message popping up on the Linux Box saying "Printer is Not Connected". Yeah, I just don't like to see error messages pop up on my PC when I'm watching internet porn. She was like "But we got the printer again". She then goes off to saying "Don't mind the error message. The computer is just out to get me."

When I was a child, I thought like a child. When I became an adult.... Uhh.. I forgot how the rest goes.

Ugghhh..... I think I have allergies.
About 5 months ago I moved to the Richmond/El Cerrito area because of my job. Anyhow, when I moved to my current place, I inhereted two cats. At first, I stayed in one room, and they would stay in another. As time moved on, they got more and more used to me. First they wouldn't come near me, then they would camp out in front of my bedroom door, then they finally decided to just invade my room and sleep on my chest in the middle of the night. I think it was about this time I started to get some extending coughing and running noses going on. In the past 2 months, I've had 3 cases of this. I'm thinking I might be allergic to them or like the cat hair isn't agreeing with my sinus's.

Other than that, not much as been going on.

Fast checkout last the local grocery store is just a myth
Grocery shopping bites. Backed up lines at the check out lanes blows worse. Recently our local grocery store started to open up a lane for people with 15 items or less. While this might sound good in theory, in practice it bites. How so? I waited a good 15 minutes in the 15 items or less check out line (aka the express lane). During the time standing in line, I noticed that they had the fastest checkers on the regular registers, but had the SLOWEST checker working the express lane . In the end, the amount of time I spent in the express lane was just as much as if I would have waited in the regular lane.

    Unrelated thoughts.
From time to time I'll read the spam. Last night around 2am was one of those times. I was just deleting the junk email when I saw one that said like refer a friend and get $50 dollars deposited into your paypal account. I figured, okay, this ia new one. So I went to the site. The following was posted:

    "NEWS FLASH !!!

This website has been shut down by the ADMIN.

TOO many people starting trouble and reporting other people's website's to Paypal just to cause trouble.

The hosting company is NOT answering my emails about issues, so in turn how can I solve your problems?

There is a trouble maker lurking around, because this program was OK'ed by PayPal.

Somebody is just reporting it, REPEATEDLY.. because they hate us marketers as they can't make any money!

SO THE END RESULT IS THE CLOSING OF THE PROGRAM!

Seeing that people online don't know how to act in a civilized manner, and would rather ruin it for everyone else.

    Thank you and GOOD DAY.

    The Admin"

I wanted to tell this guy that the reason his web host wasn't responding to his problem was because they realized he was a spammer.

And in other news, my former co-worker got raided by the ATF. He was arrested for possession of Cocaine, Marijuana, and C4 (military explosives).

The cats have more ambition than me today
Last night I saw Paul Van Dyk play at this after hours club downtown San Francisco called 1015. Outside the fact that I was jammed in between drunk people, it was a really cool show. I got to the club around 10pm in a vain attempt to beat the crowd and find parking. Wrong. The city had everything blocked off near the club. If it wasn't for some homeless man showing me a backstreet near the club with open spots, I think I would still be driving around looking for parking space. I think it was the only time I've actually given money to a person that slept on the streets.

As the night went on, I noticed it as getting harder and harder to move around the club. I think it was around midnight I just gave up trying to move and stayed in one spot in the club because it was starting to get that crazy. Then around 1 in the morning Paul finally came on deck. I didn't realize that many people in the city realized who he was. I was jammed in between 10,000 crazy drunk people as he started to play. As the night went on, I swear more and more people where trying to enter. I think maybe around 5am it finally got back to the point where I could actually move 2 inches.

I left around 6 in the morning. Call it an age thing or what not, but I just can't be clubbing until 9 in the morning. The days of being up 70 hours are since past. Besides, I think it's a bit hard on the ears when you're listening to dance music for that many hours. I also think lady luck was once again on my side when I left the club. When I left, the 4th street exit to the bay bridge as blocked off due to construction. As I drove through the city to get the first street exit, I saw traffic lined up. I was going a half block every 20 minutes at one point. Then I saw some guy gesturing to people. At first I thought it was just some crazy drunk. But for whatever reason, I chose to roll down my windows and tried to listen what he was saying.

He was telling people to go a certain route to avoid the traffic. He went on to say if you go this route, you will be to the bridge in 10 minutes as opposed to an hour. At first I ignored him. Then I saw a cop go up to the guy that was gesturing people. I figured the cop was just gonna haul the drunk off. Nope. After 10 minutes of talking, the cop started telling people the same thing. About this point I'm almost to 3rd street. The one open exit to the bay bridge was on 1st street. I was like okay. I figured traffic couldn't be much worse going that route. I took the alternate route and low and behold I was on the bay bridge back to Berkeley in less than 10 minutes!

Paul is an amazing artist. Seeing him play live was an experience I won't forget anytime soon.

    Hmmm..... first entry
I woke up at 3am this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. I suppose the cat coming in my room and feeling the need to sleep on my chest really didn't help the situation. Since there is nothing open this time of morning, I decided to be one of the cool kids and just start a blog site. Now I have another excuse to avoid responsibility. It's what I do best.

I also did something sort productive and started to explore when to use #define versus simple enumerations in C. This was something I was lectured on a while back, but was too lazy to think about at the time. Okay, this was quite an adventure. Even when I passed the '-g' option to gcc, I found out #define didn't show up in the gnu debugger. After some googling, I found out that if I passed both `-gdwarf-2' and `-g3' flags, the compiler will include information about preprocessor macros in the debugging information. I'm suspecting I wouldn't have had this issue if I used enumerations.

I think I might go wander down to the gas station and get some more Mt. Dew.
